Spatial Animation is a survey of computer applications, techniques and methodologies as employed to explore the operative relationship between architectural system modeling and image/object output. Students will be expected to question the relevance of representation versus simulation as an analytical and experiential communicative channel. Periodic lectures will focus on leveraging Autodesk Maya to explore current topics present within both AIADO and the broader field of digital practice.

While this is an introductory course in computing, it will build on the student's advanced ability to question, shape and interrogate space and time, form and detail. Technical instruction on the software will be provided with specific aims at harnessing the creative potential within each student. Students will be expected, not only to follow along with the lessons, but to apply this new knowledge to their own design. Through the interchange of technical knowledge, creative application and sophisticated adaptation, this course will aid the student in discerning the possibilities, and limitations, of digital design.
