"By truncating architecture and disposing of building, an intimacy between a way of designing and the thing designed is achieved." - Robin Evans

But if this is the case, that architectural illustration / notation is the genesis of all things considered architecture, then it cannot merely perform as representation. It must be provocative, proactive and generative as opposed to simply explanatory. The majority of architectural representation today is simply that, representational. It has neither the desire nor the power to inform or engender innovation, it can merely report on what has already been created.

Thus, today's methods of architectural illustration have become outmoded. Current methods of notation and illustration within architecture are unable to perform and convey information as readily as in the past. One section cut through and undulating form is telling on us next to nothing about that form. With the advent of new software and technologies, conventional methods of notation and delineation have lessened in their relevance in regards to the representation and the stimulation of an architectural product. This project strives to re-think the modes of illustration/notation and usages of those illustrations/notations in architecture's contemporary context.
